Lovely Mrs Hall

Mrs Hall is Nadia’s gorgeous teacher grandmother. She is taking Room 5 for the morning block while Mrs Brown does teacher jobs.  Every teacher gets a certain amount of classroom release time during the week – team leaders get 1 day release every week and also beginning teachers while the rest of us get blocks here and there. This happens in all schools. We are so lucky to have Mrs Hall today 😍.

This Is How You Communicate With Teenagers….

I know your little people are years away from being teenagers but here is a snapshot into my world this weekend and hanging out with teens – photos must have filters on them ALWAYS.

We went to Wagamamas on Friday night for dinner to celebrate our certificates.  Georgia was studying very hard for a couple of year 11 exams she has this week but we did manage to sneak out to the movies on Saturday night as a study break.

The girls were better at our bunny breakfast competition than my attempt!

Paddington Bear and Weekend Adventures

In Room 5 we have 2 Paddington Bears that go home with the children for weekend adventures.  Families get to take photos, draw pictures and write about what they get up to when they are not at school.  It is a great way to get to know each other.  Paddington Bear was Mrs Brown’s favourite story when she was 5 years old.  The latest Paddington Bear movies are family favourites also!  Can’t wait to see what Nadia and Isabella get up to this weekend with their Paddington Bears.

WOW!!!!

Some children use our Reading Eggs system at home.  We have lots and lots and lots of children through out the whole school who use it BUT the first person to earn an online certificate in the ENTIRE school for this year is our Martin!!!!!  We are so so proud of you Martin!!!!!!  So Martin here is a Room 5 certificate to celebrate your success.

Assembly

Congratulations to Phoebe and Avery who got school certificates today.

What a lovely surprise that Mrs Brown got a principal  certificate today.  Was such a lovely treat especially because Olivia, my daughter, got a principal certificate too for all her fundrasing work for Tonga.  We will be going out to dinner tonight to celebrate!

Mathletics Passwords Are Coming Home Tonight

Keep an eye out for Mathletics passwords in bags tonight.  It is not compulsory to do Mathletics, it is used widely throughout the rest of the school.  If it works for you in year 1 that is great, if it doesn’t work for your family for home learning it is not a problem.  Give it a go though and let us know what you think.  Choose the new Mathletics – explore new Mathletics option.

International Women’s Day

We are celebrating International Women’s Day in Room 5 by talking about inspirational women in our lives and in the world.  We also wanted to say thank you to some inspiring women around the school.  We also wanted to acknowledge Mr Heap as you don’t need to be a woman to celebrate International Women’s Day.  Today is for boys and men too!

There are lots of inspiring women in my family and our house is very pink with lots of girl power with my two strong and fabulous daughters! May all our children always support each other and reach for the stars.  Thank you to Nadia and Scarlett who brought in inspirational books from home!

There are so many wonderful women and men around us!  Thank you teachers, leaders, Mr Heap, Bruce, mothers, fathers, grandparents – Happy Women’s Day!!!!!  We are talking about having a Celebrating Men and Boys Day too!!!!!! Just because we are celebrating women and girls today doesn’t mean boys aren’t cool too!!!!
