Kohia Terrace School. Year 1. The life of 5 year olds. We want to invite parents and family into our classroom. Come and watch our adventures and learn about what we are learning. So when the children come home and you ask, "What did you do today?", the children will never be able to say, "nothing" ever again…our days are busy and learning constant. We love sharing our special first year of school life with you.

Eloise shared her Bear Bear with us! Well done Eloise. We loved meeting Bear Bear. Mrs Brown is bringing her childhood teddy in next week – called Dribble.
We all had house meetings today after assembly. At school we have four houses (like clubs) – Te Kanawa (red), Hillary (blue), Snell (green) and Sheppard (yellow). All the children are put into a house when they start school and they stay in that house until they leave. We do sports and competitions throughout the year in our houses. Today we had a meeting in our different houses. Quite exciting for our little people and the bigger children are great at looking after us during the meetings.
Well done to Eriko and Helena who got school certificates! Great job.
We finished the day with a game of Duck, Duck, Goose. So much fun. Sebastian jumped up to help June, (June is learning English), which was so so kind Sebastian! He took her by the hand and stayed next to her to show her how to play. Such a wonderful thing to do! Super Star Sebastian!!!!
Lots of number work AGAIN today….
Talking about what we have read is so important. Comprehension is one of the biggest factors for children not moving up a level. Talk, talk, talk about what you are reading. It is a great habit to start early.
A tractor was on the field mowing the lawns so we couldn’t go down there for sport today. But we went to the hall instead and did some activities.
Georgia and her friend Amani coach the KTS year 5 netball team. Lucky for me though they are always really kind and they helped me with some secret little projects we are working on this week for some very special people at home. #secretmothersdayprojectsfromroom5
