A Little Visitor In Room 5

Olivia brought little puppy Poppy into Room 5 to show the children. Poppy lives at Mr Brown’s house and the girls love their new little doggy friend.

…and most of you will know we sadly lost our much loved dog Milo in March.  He was an English Springer Spaniel – the lord and master of our house.  The girls and I will be getting a golden retriever puppy at the end of the year, we will get a little girl and we will name her Molly Willow Brown, (I wanted to call her Maggie but the girls out voted me).  We have lots of friends with golden retrievers so they are special to us.

Don’t Forget…

Big Birthday Week In Our House

It is my Mum’s birthday today and Olivia’s birthday tomorrow – big week in our house. It is lovely to see so many grandparents in and around Room 5.  I think grandparents are really special people in children’s lives and it is wonderful to see so many doing pick up and drops offs and following our little blog – being part of our world.  We have always been a close family and it is lovely to see many grandparents being a big part of your world too.

RAK Weeks – Last Two Weeks Of Term

RAK stands for Random Acts of Kindness and some of you might remember our RAK week we had in term one.  It means we do little kindness projects in the playground (and in the classroom). We are extra mindful to do something nice for our friends.  In term 1 this meant we gave little notes to each other, asked different people to play with us, picked up a pencil that had dropped, went and got someone’s book bag who had forgotten – just lots of different little things to help make someone happy. There are endless ideas. It is always a nice way to finish the term, especially with tired little people.

Some ideas are…

Next week  is our school Pick-n-mix competition.  It is our major school fundraiser this year so hopefully you have been able to find sponsors for your child’s yellow form.  We will be doing the different events next week. Thanks everyone for your support.

Reading In Room 5

The duck project was finished today.  Well done ladies. It looks wonderful! This was a follow up activity Nadia and Vanessa did after reading a book about ducks.

Hope all the reading is going well at home.  In year 1 getting children up and running with reading is the hardest thing we do.  It is all about mileage – the more children read, the easier it gets.
