So Impressed!

I am so impressed with everyone’s beanstalks!  It was clearly the right decision to send them home for the holidays.  I do not have ‘green fingers’ as they say – my poor mother keeps buying me lovely plants in the hope I will actually look after them but alas they never live.  Thank you for your efforts with the beanstalks.  I was chatting to one of our parents about how impressed I am and mentioned at least we don’t have a classroom pet that needs to go home every weekend.  In Wellington, Olivia’s kindy had a pet RAT and we were suppose to take turns in the weekend taking it home. The rat was called Anakin Skywalker.  It was a traumatic weekend for us when it was our turn!!!!  I LOVE animals and have had dogs, many cats (and was brought up on a farm) but I do NOT cope with rats.   Beanstalks are much better!

New Treasures

When it is wet lunch, Friday afternoons or before school we have some new treasures for the children to play with now.  A lovely KTS family donated this doll house to our room.  We also have a new castle, some dinosaurs, pirate maps for some learning activities and some great books!!  Most of the play things, books and activities in Room 5 have come from my house as the girls have outgrown things over the years so it has been amazing to get some more activities that might inspire our ‘less pink’ friends.

Support Systems Out In The Playground

We are trying something new this term out in the playground.  We have new trained up intermediate coaches to help support our little people.  Guess who is one of the coaches?  Olivia has been on lots of coaching courses and is one of 15 intermediates available to help guide the younger children to solve their own problems during morning tea and lunchtimes.

Don’t EVER Worry About School

Some of you might want to follow up at home…we had a big chat today about not worrying about school.  Mrs Brown is always here to help the children and they never need to worry about coming.  We have had such a happy day but I know after two weeks away some children didn’t get much sleep last night with the anticipation of coming back.  We had lots of ‘fluffy’ chats (as I would say) about school being a wonderful place.  I am always here to help them whenever they need.  The idea is we can get through our school days as a team and solve little dilemma’s that come up together.  Don’t ever worry about school is the main message to our little people.
