My Transitioning Children To School Work

Some of you have asked me about the transitioning children to school role that I do, (which I have my three days a term release for).  I am the teacher leader for the Auckland Central Cluster of Schools (ACCOS), for ensuring best practise transitioning children from early childhood providers/educators (we call them ECEs) into new entrant classrooms.  Schools in our cluster are Remuera Primary, Victoria Avenue School, Newmarket School, Meadowbank School and joining shortly Epsom Normal School.  We meet each term along with our many feeder ECE providers and discuss alongside guest speakers topics such as digital sharing with parents, cohort entry advantages and disadvantages for example.  I also speak at many of our ECE providers to the parent community about transitioning children to school and answer any questions or concerns they might have.  This is an area of education I am passionate about – ensuring our children and their families have the best possible start to their school life.
