Santa Cam Is Up In Room 5

Just to help us get through those final weeks of school, Santa Cam has been installed in Room 5.  Santa watches our class very closely to check that we are all making good choices.  A good chance for those who need a ‘strong finish’ to get in the good books with Santa.  It is always a hilarious time for Mrs Brown as the children wave, blow kisses and whisper secrets to Santa.  It especially makes me smile when the children ‘help’ Santa by talking into the camera telling him who is tidying up and who is not making good choices.  Sometimes we are lucky that Santa talks to us over the loud speaker and that is always a wonderful moment for the children.  Happy days in Room 5.

My Last Job In The Transitioning Children To School Group

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qBlBREJdeVg&feature=youtu.be

My final job as lead teacher for the central Auckland cluster of schools for transitioning children to school was to join a live broadcast talking about the work we have done this year.  Transitioning not only children but families into the schooling system is an area of education I am passionate about so I am a little sad about leaving this amazing group after only a year putting ‘my stamp’ on how I think it should be done.

Fully Registered Teachers

These two beautiful young teachers, Miss Zarifeh and Miss Field have completed their 2 years as a provisional registered teacher.  When you graduate from University you have a two year probation period when you have to work with an associate teacher and be constantly assessed to see if you are ‘fit’ to be a teacher.  These two lovely ladies have achieved their two years and are now fully registered teachers.  Did you know 50% of teachers leave the profession within their first 5 years?  It is so sad. I hope we can change this and keep hold of fabulous teachers like these two and make this profession attractive for good people.  Congratulations to Bridie and Jess!!

What A Lovely Celebration Thanksgiving Is!

We are looking at the celebration Thanksgiving this week.  We wrote about things we are thankful for.  There were lots of lovely answers such as ‘We are thankful for all the good people in the world who help others” and some funny ones, “Mrs Brown loves Farro Fresh because she loves food”.
