Next time you are in the classroom, come and read our publishing. We wrote up our stories from yesterday and published them.
Kohia Terrace School. Year 1. The life of 5 year olds. We want to invite parents and family into our classroom. Come and watch our adventures and learn about what we are learning. So when the children come home and you ask, "What did you do today?", the children will never be able to say, "nothing" ever again…our days are busy and learning constant. We love sharing our special first year of school life with you.

LOVE! Clara, Eloise’s little sister, came into Room 5 with the cutest Peppa Pig slippers today! Love love love.
There has been lots of talk about the very real and scary teacher shortage crisis in New Zealand at the moment. One of the many reasons given is that we as teachers don’t always promote the profession as positively as we should. Sooooo that is my goal – I love teaching, it is a gorgeous profession to go into and I hope the career path of teaching becomes one valued in the future for little people to consider.
Your year 1 teachers – it is fun when we do things together!!!!
Fun in the sun today for sport! We balanced bean bags and balls on our rackets and had races. Then we tried flipping our bean bags on our rackets and did other fun sports games.
Thank you Finn and Stella who brought in some great books from home to read – they were about wellbeing which is our theme this term.
This is the time of the term when the children get very tired. It is also the start of the cold and bug season which hits 5 year olds hard. We are talking a lot about using tissues properly, washing our hands, sneezing and coughing into our arm (not hands) and if we are feeling tired and a bit grumpy how to manage ourselves. Early nights are how we manage this time of year in our house – Diary of a Wombat is a great book that sums up how many of us feel about now.
We learned about high notes and low notes – the pitch.
We read the best story today!!!!!
I know I can be guilty of not taking the time to listen all the time but I do think it is so important for little people to feel listened to, and as the Mum of teenage girls I know it is crucial as our children get older to have a foundation. Their little stuff is big stuff because it is important to them and their worlds.
