Word Power Game

In groups we had a couple of fun word competitions – Word Power.  The first challenge was to write as many ‘N’ words as we could, (with Mrs Brown helping).  We then wrote all the words we knew how to spell, such as ‘the’, ‘and’, ‘mum’, ‘dad’ – with lots of help from Mrs Brown as well. We learnt lots about working in groups and helping each other.

Brain Break Outside Game

After finishing reading we went outside for a quick game.  It is a bit hard for Avery to run with her broken arm, so Mrs Brown showed off a few funny filters while we sat with the class playing  Duck, Duck, Goose.

Sooo What Are The Lunch Time Rules?

We had to share with our new friends the school’s lunchtime rules like not sharing our lunch, sitting while eating, wearing our hats, showing a duty teacher our lunchboxes when we have finished, putting our lunchboxes away, staying in the junior playground…so so so much to remember.

New Little Faces

Welcome Eloise and Helena to Room 5.  You join Phoebe who started last week and we have Eriko joining us shortly also.  We will be welcoming another 4 boys into Room 5 a little bit later. Straight into writing this morning and everyone was amazing. Well done.  Proud teacher!

Maths This Week

We did lots and lots of number work this week.  As well as working with the teacher we are learning how to do some maths activities independently so next time small groups can go and do them by themselves to reinforce learning.  In year 1 we have children who have been at school for more than 6 months and other children who have been here only days or weeks, so we all work at different levels because some children have been at school for longer.

Ipads For Learning

We have new iPads in Room 5 now.  We teach the children that these are learning devices and they need to take turns doing learning activities independently on them while I am teaching small groups during literacy and maths.  We do have a timed system.
