Transitioning Children To School Leadership Work

Last night central Auckland schools and early childhood providers met in the brand new modern year 1 facility at Remuera Primary to discuss the world of digital sharing.  This is the group of professionals Alison and myself lead as part of the ACCoS Ministry of Education transitioning children to school initiative. We meet once a term and also have a blog to share professional learning. We had five guest speakers last night including Amy Turner and myself sharing digital communication tools such as Story Park, Educa, Seesaw, blogs, Facebook and website resources.  It was really interesting to look at the future of this and all the pros and cons.

Linking Our Reading and Writing

We are doing lots of work in Room 5 linking our reading skills to our writing skills and making lots of cross connections.  One little group is doing a whale project – researching facts.  They will present this on a poster and take to Alison.   Another little group is using the sentences we read to create our own sentences.

Alison This Afternoon

Alison took the children to the library this afternoon and taught them about the Dewey system. The Dewey systm is the number reference on the side of non-fiction books.  Room 5 learnt how and where to find whale books.  There was time for a maths game afterwards.
