Our Room 5 Adventures

We have music on Thursdays this term with Miss K.

So much excitement in the junior area today!  Lots of diggers and trucks!

We talked about what jobs we could do when we grow up as I suggested to Sebastian that he could be a marine biologist because he knows so much about under water creatures.  Olivia wants to be a marine biologist too!  Eloise asked Mrs Brown, “What do you want to do when you grow up?”….so sweet.

The children have science tomorrow after lunch with our science teacher Ms Bowden – exciting.

Sometimes maths can be confusing…

We talked about ‘family of facts’ in some groups.  Number relationships.  The children are actually really good at knowing their addition and subtraction facts.  We need to focus more on writing the sums up correctly by ourselves.

Word bingo and other literacy games are great to play to help our little people learn more words.  AND it is fun which is really important.

 

Happy birthday Julian.  You are six years old now! Wow.  We understand your newborn baby sister Daphne is coming home today.  So exciting.  You are a big brother now!

I learnt sometime new today.  We wrote sentences about things that live in the sea.  Sebastian wrote about piranhas.  He also told me otters eat piranhas.  I wasn’t convinced so we googled it and Sebastian was right!  Otters eat piranhas.  Thanks Sebastian. Sebastian said he is an expert about fish.

We all chose different things that you see in the ocean and we wrote about it in our writing today.

There was a pet rat at the girls kindergarten in Wellington that caused me much anxiety!  I hate rats.  It’s name was Anakin Skywalker and it use to be allowed to leave the cage and “play”with the children, for example they use to put it in the pram and push it around.  I did not cope with this and every morning before dropping the girls off I would make them promise not to touch the rat or go near it.  Every morning they would answer me, “Yes Mummy.  I promise not to touch the rat Mummy”.  Every afternoon I would ask them, “Darling did you touch the rat?” and they would always say, “No Mummy.  I promise Mummy.”

THEN when they graduated from kindy and we got their kindy portfolios every second photo was of the girls playing with the blimmen rat! I became a much more suspicious mother after that!  Good training for the teenage years!
