Sea Life Kelly Tarltons

A HUGE thank you to Sarah (Stella’s Mum), Tim (Eloise’s Dad), Kathryn (Gabriel’s Mum) and Paloma (Isabella’s Mum) who supported our little class during our visit to Sea Life Kelly Tarlton’s today.  We had a great day!  You will have tired little people tonight.

Trip Today!!!! A Bit of ZEN Before A Busy Day With Many Many 5 Year Olds AND Lots of Fishy Stories

It is going to be a very exciting day today!  A bit of teacher calmness before the five year olds descend; (actually just being a bit silly much to Olivia’s embarrassment).  We are off to Kelly Tarltons to learn lots about life under the sea.  Will be a fun (tiring) day!  Hope all the wonderful adult helpers have had their coffees and a quiet moment before noise and energy overload hits Room 5.

Our wonderful librarian Jane showed Vanessa and Nadia how to get a bronze library award today.  She showed them the chapter books they need to read.  To get a bronze award you need to read 20 chapter books from the area Jane showed us and then Jane always chats to the children about the book each time. Good luck to Nadia and Vanessa who are underway with this new goal.

It was a busy little lunch time today with lots of diggers and machinery in our Koru play area. When we looped through the library we found lots of Room 5 faces escaping the noise.  Sebastian and Julian are always together and the best of friends, they followed me sharing lots of ocean facts as we walked – they are so clever.

Crab Publishing Is Up In Room 5

Next time you are in Room 5 come and see our published writing on crab facts.  Next week we will be doing some collaborative fact writing on whales and we will publish those facts on a giant blue whale picture.  Ms Ali is working on a whale art project with the children.  We read this beautiful book today called The Blue Whale. It has so much information on whales and has the most beautiful pictures.  We love books!

Linking Reading And Writing

Once we get the children up and reading confidently we work on comprehension follow up work.  Once they are underway with that we link literacy – reading and writing becomes more blended.  We make connections back and forth to strengthen learning and growth.

Lovely Nadia helped Stella log into her Reading Eggs account.

Seesaw

Great to see Eriko taking a picture of her crab to put on her Seesaw account.  The idea is the children use Seesaw to share their work with you and I will use the blog to communicate also.  The blog is to give a sense of community and give an insight into our classroom.  We are still training up the children with Seesaw but we are getting there.
